What Is A Police Auction?

Police AuctionsA police auction, also known as a sheriff’s sale, is an auction held by law enforcement agencies whereby property such as cars, homes, jewelry, and electronics that have been seized from criminals are sold to the public.

It can be tempting to believe that there is little reason to be well-behaved when you see people who have chosen a life of crime living in big houses with flash cars and a lifestyle that most us can only dream of. The rewards of the path taken by such people can sometimes seem to go directly against the lessons you were taught when you were younger. However, there seems to at least be some karma out there delivering additional justice to the bad people who get caught.

Police Auctions Are A Great Way To Buy Cheap Cars And Real Estate

Law enforcement agencies make a point of seizing the property of people who have used their dubious relationship with morality to make a profit. Of course there is a sense that government seized real estate comes with a certain taint to it, but that needn’t be the attitude we take to it. Sure, the house itself and the renovations to it may have been paid for with drug money or worse – but what is more fair and just than these people losing the house they undoubtedly felt very proud of, and seeing it go to someone who actually worked hard for the money to buy it?

Police auctions, after all, can mean that you get a house which would have cost an awful lot of money for a relative steal – if you will pardon the unfortunate double meaning. It is pretty certain that you will pay less for it than did the miscreant who had to give it up when justice finally caught up with them. How about that for sweet irony? Turning a bad situation into a good one and showing the criminal fraternity that sometimes it pays to be law-abiding. That’s karma for you.

Where Can I Find A Police Auction?

Look around in the classified ads section of your local newspaper, or you can find a police auction listings directory online. AuctionsPass.com is the largest and most well known police auctions site on the web. With hundreds of listings in every major city, you’re bound to find a government auction or sheriff sale near you.

Of course, while good things can happen to good people and – almost more sweetly – bad things happen to bad people, it is worth noting that you need to make this happen rather than waiting for things to even themselves out. Keep a close eye on police auctions in your area and keep in mind that at the moment, these are fairly widespread and not always well-attended – so a minimum bid can often secure the property.
